The Østjylland region (which includes Aarhus County) is not known to have had a costume with a local distinctive character, with the exception of the women's headgearThe cap is made of a large piece of stiffened silk (called a "sniptøj"), and has lace from the town of Tønder in front. The lace wings are sewn onto the side of the cap.

The other elements of the costume are:

a. bodice of black twilled wool with a broad neckline and pink brocade band at the edge

b. red knitted sweater (nattrøje) sleeves which were sewn directly onto the bodice

c. black skirt with green spots (typically home-woven)

d. silk apron, typically black or green

e. checkered/tartan wool scarf, primarily red
